At the beginning of Levi’s cancer journey, during chemotherapy, ringing the bell to celebrate #NoMoChemo was what motivated him.

I still remember Levi watching another child’s No More Chemo celebration, smiling and clapping, while quietly wondering when it would be his turn. But when he finished chemo, he relapsed and needed another brain surgery, so there was no celebration. After radiation at St. Jude, there was still a residual tumor, and once again no celebration. Honestly, I forgot about the bell.

Then one day, while watching TV, a St. Jude commercial came on. Levi turned to me and asked, “When I beat cancer again in high school, will I get to ring the bell?” My heart sank. After one of his appointments, I asked Dr. Falcon if Levi could simply ring the bell in clinic. Dr. Falcon said not only should Levi ring the bell, but it should be a true celebration.

Never did we imagine that moment would come at Champions Square with the Caesars Bell.
